COVID-19 Alert | To our patients and the community
During these challenging times we have implemented enhanced safety measures at all of our facilities which remain open for your urologic needs. We are now offering video or telephone only visits for those patients who would rather been seen from home. Please contact our office if you would like to utilize this option instead of an in-person visit.
In compliance with Governor Cuomo's executive order, all patients are asked to wear a mask or face covering when entering the office.
We strongly advise all patients who may be experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or at high risk based on CDC guidelines to please stay home and utilize either a video or telephone only visit with WNY Urology Associates.

Treatments for Kidney Stones
Providing Relief for Patients in Buffalo, Orchard Park, Lockport, Springville, Sanborn, Batavia & Niagara Falls, NY
Kidney stones are very common and often painful
. They can be smooth or jagged, and range from the size of a grain of sand to the size of a golf ball.
Fortunately, kidney stones are usually treatable. One of the expert urologists at Western New York Urology Associates can recommend which of the following treatment options is right for you:
- Flushing out—some small stones may be “flushed out†by drinking lots of water.
- Medication—your urologist may prescribe medication to dissolve the stone (not recommended if you are in severe pain, or if the stone is blocking part of your urinary tract).
- Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL)—during this procedure, you lie down while a machine targets shock waves at the stone. This treatment makes the stone crumble into smaller pieces so it is easier for you to pass.
- Ureteroscopic stone removal—an outpatient procedure, in which a urologist uses a scope or even a small laser to go through your urethra and bladder to find and remove the stone.
- Surgery—in extreme cases, your surgeon may need to open up your kidney to remove the stone.
